A police officer has been caught in the act trying to extort money from a tricycle rider he arrested from breaking a traffic rule.  Photo credit: SaharaReporters   Policemen and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) at the Ikeja roundabout, close to the Conoil Petrol Station oppoite the gate of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (NASUTH), are in the habit of bullying motorists and extorting money from them for minor traffic offences.   On Friday, May 18, SaharaReporters’ camera caught a policeman, with the name tag S.A. A Louisiana-based televangelist is asking his followers to donate money for a $54 million jet that can 'go anywhere in the world in one stop.'     A televangelist has asked his followers to donate money so he can buy a $54m private jet, The Independent UK reports.   68-year-old Jesse Duplantis, who is based in Louisiana, sought the donations in a video posted on his ministry’s website.   “You know I’ve owned three different jets in my life and used them and used them and just burning them up for the Lord,”  he said.   “Now, some people believe that preachers shouldn’t have jets. A university student has reportedly taken his own life after he lost a Champions League bet last Saturday. Late Moses Mashaka   A man has committed suicide following Liverpool’s loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final played in Kiev on 26th June.   The Tanzanian man identified as Moses Mashaka, a university student, took his life away after Madrid beat The Reds 3-1 to be crowned champions for the third consecutive time.   While confirming the report, Mbeya Police Comander Musa Kaibu revealed that the deceased was a second year student at the St.Augustine University of Tanzania.   According to police reports, Mashaka had placed a bet on the game, predicting that Liverpool will be crowned champions.   However, things did not go as planned as Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale capitalized on two errors by Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius to earn Los Blancos the trophy.   The bachelor’s degree in education student was d...

The cult war between Aiye and Vikings confraternities in Anambra has claimed yet another life in the state following the discovery of the corpse of another man identified as Uchenna. The cult war which reportedly started some days ago in Awka, the state capital has so far claimed more than 10 lives within 48 hours. The deceased who is alleged to be a cult member was reportedly shot and butchered by his assailants in Obosi village. The police had earlier said eleven notorious members of different cult groups have been arrested in Anambra state following an intensive manhunt of cultists who have been terrorizing Awka and environs within the last few days.
