Why I Am Never Going to Own a Home Again - James Altucher

Image
Many people have said to me in the past month, “I’m going to buy a home.” Or, “What do you think of the idea of me buying a home?” I like the second batch of people. They are my friends and it seems like they are sincerely asking for my advice. And I’m going to give it to them.  Whether they meant it or not. I have some stories about owning a home. One of them is here: “What It Feels Like to be Rich” where I describe my complete path into utter depravity and insanity. The other one is still too personal. Its filled with about as much pain as I can fit onto a page. Oh, I have a third one also from when I was growing up. But I don’t want to upset anyone in my family so I’ll leave it out. You can’t stop the NSA from tracking you, but you can make it harder by Sarah A. Downey

What can regular people do to stop NSA spying? That’s the big question in the wake of the NSA surveillance news that’s shaken the nation. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a simple answer. There’s no way to block NSA surveillance completely. But let’s not get pessimistic. There  are  tools you can use to make it harder for others to track you. They won’t eliminate your footprint, but they’ll blur the picture of you that emerges through your data. Read on to learn about them.   Let’s start with a little context. It’s important to remember that almost all surveillance starts with private companies. Apple, AT&T, Microsoft, Google, Verizon…companies like these mine your data for commercial reasons, but...

Janet Jackson is getting ready for her big comeback. The 50-year-old singer told fans on Monday about her plans to continue her tour -- formerly known as Unbreakable, the name of her latest album, though she's now decided to call it The State of the World Tour -- after taking a break last year due to her pregnancy. A source close to the Jackson family now tells ET that Jackson is planning to tour with her almost four-month old son, Eissa. Last month, news broke that Jackson and her estranged husband, Wissam Al Mana, have split. "She will be in court to flesh out the dissolution of her marriage," the source says. "Touring with baby Eissa could be a possible problem but she's hoping it's not." The source says her older brother, Randy Jackson, will be with her on tour to help take care of his nephew. "He's her primary source of emotional support and may be the perfect guardian for her son while she's on tour," the sour...
