"It is clear that the act is condemnable, illegal and barbaric" - Father of one of the ALUU 4 victims reacts to court's judgement

A Federal High Court sitting in Rivers on July 31st found three persons guilty of the murder of four students of the University of Port Harcourt in Aluu community on October 5th 2012. The four male students namely Ugonna Obuzor, Toku Lloyd, Chiadika Biringa and Tekena Elkanah, were brutally murdered by members of Aluu community in the Obio-Apkor Local Government Area of Rivers, over allegations that they were thieves.
They were stripped naked, severely beaten and then burnt to death. 12 persons were initially arrested but in January this year, 5 persons were discharged and acquitted.
Mr Messiah Obuzor, father of one of the victims, in an interview with reporters praised the court for sentencing the killers to death. Obuzor said the the court’s judgment removed the tag of criminality on the late students and showed that his late son, Ugonna and his friends had no criminal dent, but were murdered extra-judicially.
"The eyes of the court saw an overwhelming proof that my son and the others were murdered unjustifiably. By what the court has pronounced, it is clear that the act is condemnable, illegal and barbaric," he said.
